The short version We use only essential cookies. No tracking, no advertising, no third-party analytics cookies. The cookies we set are required for the app to function and remember your settings.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored in your browser by websites you visit. They help the site remember information about you (like login state) between visits.

2. Cookies we use

ZS Smart Content uses only essential cookies. These are required for the app to function and cannot be disabled if you want to use the app.

CookiePurposeDurationType
shopify_session Authenticates your Shopify session 24 hours Essential
zs_state Remembers UI preferences (sidebar collapsed, theme) 30 days Essential
zs_csrf CSRF protection for form submissions Session Essential
zs_onboarding Tracks onboarding step completion 30 days Essential

3. What we DON'T use

For full transparency, here's what cookies we do NOT use:

  • ❌ Google Analytics or similar tracking
  • ❌ Facebook Pixel or other ad pixels
  • ❌ Third-party advertising cookies
  • ❌ Cross-site tracking cookies
  • ❌ Marketing automation cookies (Intercom, Drift, etc.)
  • ❌ Behavioral profiling cookies

We believe an app should work without surveilling its users.

4. Local storage

In addition to cookies, we use browser localStorage for:

  • Caching recent generations for faster display
  • Storing draft form input (so you don't lose work if you accidentally refresh)
  • UI state (active filters, sort orders)

This data stays in your browser only — never sent to our servers.

5. Third-party cookies

Some features rely on third-party services that may set their own cookies:

ServiceWhen loadedPurpose
ShopifyThroughout the appAuthentication, billing
CloudflareAll page loadsCDN, security

These third parties have their own cookie policies. Check Shopify's at shopify.com/legal/cookies.

6. Your choices

You can:

  • Block cookies in your browser — note: the app will not work without essential cookies
  • Clear cookies anytime — you'll just need to log in again
  • Use incognito/private mode — cookies are deleted when you close the window

7. Do Not Track

We honor the "Do Not Track" browser signal. Since we don't track users anyway, this is effectively always on.

8. Updates to this policy

If we change cookies in any meaningful way (extremely unlikely — we'd need to add features that require new ones), we'll notify you via in-app banner and update this page.

Did you know? The average website sets 40-60 cookies. We set 4 — all essential. That's by design.
